Is Matthew Goode the best British actor of his generation? I think he might be. I have come to this bold conclusion - bold because the list of brilliant male actors in their forties (Goode is 47) is, happily, long - having watched him first in Dept Q, and then a few months later, in The Offer (although the latter was made before Dept Q - it was released in 2022). It was a felicitous coincidence, watching these two wildly different series in relatively quick succession, because it allowed me to truly appreciate Goode’s range.
